Pay and conditions

    2006/07 officer pay scales

    Police pay is reviewed annually and updated in September. The salaries listed below came into effect on 1 September 2006.

    Special allowances and competence related payments

    London weighting
    officers based in the capital, London weighting was increased to £2,055 per annum as of 1 July 2006.

    Dog handler’s allowance
    The dog handler’s allowance was increased to £1,926 with effect from 1 September 2006.

    Competence related threshold payment
    The annual rate of this allowance was increased to £1,095 with effect from 1 September 2006.

    Northern Ireland Transitional Allowance (was PSNI Allowance)
    The annual rate of this allowance was increased to £2,817 with effect from 1 September 2006.

    Police cadets
    Police cadet pay from 1 September 2006
    Under 17 £6,777
    Aged 17 £7,194
    Aged 18 and over £8,001


    London weighting for police cadets was increased to ú1,233 per annum with effect from 1 July 2006
    The annual board and lodgings charges for police cadets have increased as follows:
